Our Story

Life is better at the beach. Happy Jack’s was established in May 2018 by Mike Dalton, a Rockaway native who grew up on the beach and is proud of the sand in his shoes.

Happy Jack’s is a tribute to Mike’s father, John "Happy Jack" Dalton. Happy Jack was a NYPD police officer, a Korean War veteran and a National Guard reservist, who served bravely and honorably. He called Rockaway home for more than 50 years. Happy Jack taught his 12 kids the most important lessons in life: Be kind, work hard and have fun.

That is what Happy Jack’s is all about. Seasonal menus and daily specials that offer quality food & drinks prepared with the freshest ingredients. Wonderful, attentive service by our staff, many who are Dalton family members or “honorary” ones. And great times for every guest looking for incredible food, and good company, just steps away from the most beautiful beach on the planet.

This is such a great little hidden place. The atmosphere is super cozy and intimate little burger spot. The food is pretty delicious. I LOVE the chicken sliders they really hit the spot. The Happy Jack burger is also great too.

Wow! We had such a great time here. The atmosphere was fun, the food was wonderful, the service was perfect, everyone was as nice as possible. We are already talking about when to go back for more. Burgers are the main thing, but there is actually quite a variety to choose.

Just had the Mother's Day specials of crab cakes and steak. Delicious. The salad the veggies the main course and desert. Awesome. Even had dinner from there the night before. Cajun chicken Sammy. Wow. Will continue to go. The people there are great.

Found this place online ordered and in almost no time they were ringing the bell. Had the empanadas and French dip. Both orders were sizeable and delicious. Plan to order again and visit the restaurant. Almost nothing beats great food and that is what this place is all about.
